KindleI've bought this book from at least 5 times for myself and as numerous gifts Clearly I love it However when I went to buy it as a gift most recently I was concerned by the new book image and a few reviews saying that the book was differentThe cover has indeed changed and the first few pages contain new content but after researching around a bit I see that this is intentional Waheed seems to be re branding her old works as seen on her website and her InstagramSo any other buyers with similar concerns please rest assured that while you might not be getting the exact same book as you would have a year ago you are very much stil

KindleThis book of poems mostly micropoems and prose poetry is utterly breathtaking I read it in a single sitting and wanted to read it again and again nayyirah waheed has taken the uniue experience of being an African American woman and written poems that cut incredibly close to the bone as a mixed Asian American poet The grief of diaspora and nonbelonging the raw open softness of pain the crystal clarity of the words hurts like prodding a bruise I carry And then the next poem is a soft wash of ocean water reminding me that healing in a violent world is a radical act and the lancing of the wound is the beginning of healing from the pain and transforming it before it goes septic in the heartWhat has been done with such tiny poems is breathtaking They are whole cosmos exploding with meaning Every poet interested in the micropoem form should read this re

KindleThis so called 'Poem' book and I use the term book very loosely as you could probably fit the whole thing on a pamphlet the size of a Chinese menu is just a compilation of random phrase's or observations Why the hysteria about how good this publication is simply baffles me I can only liken it to the fable of The Emperor's New Clothes Seems to me she's just another irrelevant tag that's latched on to students and new age travellers Just a word of advice to the authorif you really care about the environment then publish on a way smaller format next time

KindleSalt is a book that changes lives Ever since I read it I've bought it five times to gift to friends Nayyirah Waheed manages to capture through her poetry delicate subjects like Black Womanhood love and pain It's hopeful and yet very clear on what the present currently is I fell in love with the poems and I have a reason to uote at least one daily It's accessible and comforting in that accessibility It's sensual in some of the most subtle ways I hadn't yet experience writing to be Simply b
